October 24; 1:00 & 5:30pm

Our 43rd Season opens with Ballet Bites. Join us for a “Taste of Transylvania” in the intimate setting of California Ballet’s Theatre West. Two folk dance flavored ballets will open the program: Marius Zirra’s Romanian Rhapsodies, a colorful and vivacious ballet performed to traditional Romanian music; Mark Lanham’s Tarantella, a lively ballet set to the well known music of the same name by Louis Gottschalk.

In the highlight of the production, Jonathan Harker and Dr. Van Helsing battle creatures of the night and face off against Bram Stoker’s famous vampire in excerpts from Charles Bennett’s critically acclaimed Dracula. Performed to an original composite score, Mr. Bennett’s spine-tingling ballet has been added to the repertoire of such companies as Hartford Ballet, Eugene Ballet, and Ballet Idaho.

Saturday evening guests are also invited to a ghoulish pre-performance dinner catered by Bellagio Ristorante where they can mingle and pose for pictures with the Brides of Dracula.
